Snorting of any solid is very trying on your mucuous membranes, and extended use can cause damage. Cocaine is kind enouugh to be a topical anesthetic, so it numbs the membranes and you can't feel them swelling and painfully in distress. Codeine, while being a pain killer, is an opiate and needs to reach receptors in the brain to ease pain. Thus your nose will burn as it sits on the membranes and trickles down your throat.
As you can see, I am against snorting anything. However if you feel you must or would like to snort anything, make sure it is as pure as possible. DO NOT SNORT CRUSHED TABLETS OR CAPSULES OR OTHER ORAL PREPARATIONS. These are made to be taken orally and along with the drug contain various dyes, waxes, fillers, binders, and other things that, while harmless orally, may accelerate damage to your mucuous membranes if taken intranasally. Note also that nasally administered drugs are often much more potent than orally administered, thus it takes much less, will hit you faster, stronger, and last a shorter amount of time.
