First and Last Time I Will Use

DOSE:
10 mg oral Methadone (pill / tablet)
BODY WEIGHT: 120 lb
A friend of mine had a prescription for Methadone that, although she claimed it was for back pain, I pretty much knew it was for her heroin addiction. Anyway, she was always offering me one of her pills because I was going through a tough spell at the time and she felt I needed to escape the stress. One particularly bad day, I took her up on the offer on a day that I knew was followed by a fews days off, just in case.

Now keep in mind, I had never used any opioids. I knew and witnessed friends on them and their experiences always were less than appealing to me. I'm a stimulant type of person.

She gave me one pill at work. I waited until after my shift ended (about 11pm), went home, and took the pill with a glass of water and on an empty stomach. I figured it would be a nice way to help with sleep since I was having trouble sleeping at the time as well. I also figured that since it wasn't heroin, it would be a pretty mild experience. I was mistaken.

After about an hour, the nausea kicked in. Ugh!
After about an hour, the nausea kicked in. Ugh!
A nagging relentless nausea. And this lasted for at least 24 hours. Forget any hope of sleeping. The funny thing was there was no vomiting aside from self-induced about 2 hours into the experience. My hope in inducing vomiting was that I would get any residue of the Methadone out of my system. This proved to be unsuccessful.

Around 6am I was able to catch some shut eye, but no extended period of sleep. Luckily I did not have to work that day or the next, so when I was starting to feel better (about 26 hours after taking the Methadone), I crashed for 15 hours. When I woke, I was a bit groggy, but the nausea had passed.

This is a good drug for many. For me, not so much. If anything it confirmed my opinion that opioids and their relatives are not my drugs of choice.
