This fungus grows on soil in subtropical meadows, and it is defined by its subumbonate pileus, long pseudorhiza, ovate-subrhomboid thick-walled spores, and for their pleuro- and cheilocystidia. It belongs to the section Mexicanae in genus Psilocybe
