Q: Do you know what chemical is in the diet pill Meridia?

A: Meridia's active ingredient is sibutramine hydrochloride monohydrate. It is a norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine reuptake inhibitor which is schedule IV in the United States. Because it is schedule IV, it is available by prescription only.
It is available in 5, 10, or 15mg capsules which are generally prescribed to be taken once a day.
