What are common industrial uses of g-butyrolactone?
Q: A laboratory chemical [supply company] has recently denied my order for gamma Butyrolactone. Their internet order form asked :
INTENDED USE OF THESE PRODUCTS: {my response was "stage effect"}, THEY DENIED ME THE ORDER DUE TO INCONSISTANT USE OF THE PRODUCT.

Can you recall proper scientific uses of this product.

A: The most common non-reactive uses of g-butyrolactone is for cleaning. It is considered a very safe solvent and is very effective for cleaning up epoxy or computer parts (boards, circuitry). Otherwise, it is also used in the perfume/aroma business as an additive.
