Can a spinal tap detect past drug use?
Q: I am trying to become an airline pilot and was told that they do spinal taps. is this true. is there any way to hide the fact that i've used lsd and mushrooms?

A: A spinal tap would not identify whether or not an individual ever done lsd, mushrooms, or any other controlled substance in the past. It could be used just as a normal blood testing procedure is used to detect recent use, however spinal taps can be potentially life threatening and there is virtually no chance that one would be required to have one in order to become an airline pilot.
