Can I take Zyban (buproprion SR) with OTC stimulants?

can i take "zyban" at the same time i am taking "metabolife" which contains:guarana, ma huang, bee pollen, ginseng lethicin, bovine, damania, sarsaparilla, golden seal nettles, gotu kola, spirulina algae, royal jelly, vitamin e, magnesium, and chromium. i want to take metabolife to loose weight and zyban to stop smoking. please advise. there is a warning on the motabolife to ask a physician before you take metabolife with an MAO inhibitor. but i dont know if zyban is a MAO inhibitor. can you please help?

Zyban (bupropion SR, same as Wellbutrin) is not an MAO inhibitor. If anything, the use of a stimulant product with Zyban will likely accentuate the stimulatory side effects of both (restlessness, nausea, anorexia, sleep disturbances, etc). Though the negative interaction may be slight, its still probably best if you consult a physician before combining the two.
