Where would I go to find what substances are illegal in Canada?
Q: |
Many thanks for your reply re: the legality of BDO in Canada; I hope you recieved my donation. What is the procedure to find definitive, up-to-date info on whether or not a substance is controlled or scheduled? I would like to do it for myself in future.
Regards,

We have a copy of the Nov 3, 2000 version of the Canadian controlled substance act at :
http://www.erowid.org/psychoactives/law/countries/law_canada.shtml
From that page you can also link to the original version on the Canadian Justice web site. From either copy you can look through the seven schedules to see where, if at all, a substance is listed. Be sure to check under alternate chemical and plant names as it's sometimes hard to guess what name it will be listed under.
It's also important to know that the online schedules are updated periodically, but it's possible that newly oulawed substances may not yet be in the list. It's probably possible to do a search of recently passed bills and laws from elsewhere on the Canadian gov't web site, but I can't tell you off the top of my head where to go to do this.
