How frequently is the Erowid website updated?
Q: How frequently is the Erowid website updated? When I check the "What's New" section, sometimes days go by without an change in the date of the most recent entry, then, a whole slew of "days" of new entries appear at once. Is this just the nature of the beast in working with a small staff & an overwhelming number of submissions/information/images? Or, is there something I can do to tweak my browser to get me the latest all the quicker?

A: Just the nature of the beast. We have a "system" for adding files to the what's new display as we add them to the site, but someone has to make sure that all the files and related images have been uploaded to the site and that all new documents for a day are all working, before that day's files can be displayed on the what's new page.

Sometimes there's something holding up a day's new files like a broken image or one last fact that needs to be checked. Other times it just gets late and nobody bothers to publish the what's new page before we all go to bed.

New content in the Experience Vaults or Ask Erowid are both automatically published as they're added. You can check what's new pages for those areas specifically at:

Someone is working on the site just about every day (with a few exceptions for special occasions or when we're all out of town). There's also a lot of edits and corrections that go onto the site that never get added to the What's New page. I'd guess for every file that shows up in the What's New list...we edit/add to/correct many more. There's probably an average of 20-25 person-hours a day going into the site total between 4 or 5 of us.

Hope that helps answer the question.
