From John:
The myth in question is of the teenage who plucked out his eyeballs in a jail cell whilst under the influence of LSD. This bears a strinking resemblance to a passage in Hunter S Thompson's novel 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.' The main character/narrator, Duke, was reading several articles in some paper, one of which described a young person who plucked out his eyeballs in a jail cell and felt no pain. Instead of LSD, he had used PCP, so perhaps this myth can be disregarded once and for all.
