Today I was prescribed Gabapentin (Neurontin) for insomnia. Just a quick overview of my life so far - over the last year I've tried nearly every sleeping pill ever made, and although many of them are quite nice (hey Ambien), none of them help me sleep. So to cure my nagging Tyler Durden-esque insomnia, my doctor gave me this.

8:30pm - I took 600mg's with dinner. I watched TV and I waited... and waited.

9:30pm - Watched some Adult Swim. Absolutely nothing. Took 300mg more. Then waited a-gain...

11:00pm - Fell in a YouTube hole... waiting.... Super disappointed. Took 300mg more.

12:00am - Spontaneously decided to paint my nails. HERE'S WHERE IT GETS GOOD. While doing my nails, I placed my hands in a bowl of warm water to soften the cuticles. Suddenly, I was very aware of my body weight, and I was leaning - almost pushing - the bowl into the coffee table. It felt like I was moving forward, like I was pushing through the bowl, but I wasn't. My depth perception was completely off. YAY! It was happening!

1:00am - Now - I feel a slight body high. I'm not as happy as I was hoping to be. I feel lightheaded, I guess. My sense of touch is altered - everything feels soft. My skin and teeth all feel very soft, or malleable.

**As for music, music was better. I'm sure my neighbors think I'm insane, but I've played Maps by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs at least 7 times in a row, just dancing around like a lunatic. It feels like I'm being transported to a different dimension or something. It's incredible.

As far as visuals go, blurred vision, depth perception is not reliable (haha). I felt the desire to light candles, and they're so gorgeous. They're giving me this amplified sentimental feeling, like when I see Christmas lights in the winter.

Overall, I'm kind of let down. I am definitely NOT tired. Probably because I'm waiting for some awesome high to kick in. I think I might take the whole dose together next time so I can have a better experience.
