I have dabbled in the use of Alkyl Nitrites both as potentiators for other drugs, as well as alone.

The first few times I tried it I quite enjoyed it. I tried it once under the influence of LSA (about 8 HBW seeds) and had the open eyed vision of a florescent red Chinese dragon 'swim' past my face. Throughout the rest of the trip its face constantly popped up in my 'metavision' as I have dubbed it. (basically a field of vision placed over my actual visual perception of the world.)

One night after pretty heavy use of my popper bottle as I lay down to sleep I began having a violent dry cough and severe shortness of breath . It was so intense and frequent that I did not sleep that night. The next day I went to urgent care and had a chest xray with nothing of interest found. (scored a bottle of codeine/promethazine though.)

For some reason I didn't make the connection that the Nitrites could have caused this. After my cough dissipated several days later. I started using a different brand of poppers and found that my cough returned even after only mild use. I immediately stopped using the poppers and have not used them except for one small pull from the bottle a few weeks ago to confirm my suspicions.

I am not sure my lungs have ever fully recovered. Upon using them after my initial coughing episode I have found that even the smallest dose has a definite detrimental impact on my breathing.
