To begin, I have prepared Morning Glories via cold water extraction multiple times, with success. I tried many different ways of preparation, and found through experience what works, what makes the process most efficient and inefficient, and I will explain the conditions and preparation I use necessary to complete and get the best possible active alkaloid yield through a cold water extraction. To begin, you will need some basic household items, and some easily obtainable equipment, as follows.
1. Cheap coffee grinder-25 bucks
2. UNTREATED Morning glory seeds. Most all strains are said to be psychoactive, I personally recommend Heavenly blues or Flying Saucers, Because they are tried and tested effective.
3. Purified branded bottled water. Aquafina, Poland spring, etc. Sorry folks, tap water is treated with chlorine and who knows what else, it will render the alkaloids ineffective, Trust me.
4. Sealable container, I use a shaker style bottle, but any sealed container ought to work fine.
5. Clean cloth or a food style strainer. the smaller the little holes, the better. (the Idea is minimal or no seed gunk at all in the brew, as that is the stuff that truly makes Mr. Stomach resent us)
6. Refrigerator.
7. Something to cover the container with to prevent light from agitating the alkaloids. Rig it up, Foil, cloth, pretty much anything. (LSA is said to break down in UV light, and the extraction works notably better when the grinding process is done in the shadows of a dim room and infusion in complete darkness.)
I set aside the dosage:
50-75 seeds-Threshold. Mild Euphoria, Noticeable mild buzz.
150-200 seeds- I feel it, pretty fun effects, sort of like a medium pot high.
250-300 seeds- This dose (for me) was pretty strong. Not a full blown trip, but it was certainly a strong psychedelic high, I can see at this dosage the reason it was held sacred. Best way I can describe the feeling is “Invigorated mental childlike wonder, held in check by physical sedation and distractability”.
300-400 seeds+- I want to prepare for this experience. I should have at least a day or preferably two days free of responsibility. “If you have never done a psychedelic this is not the correct starting dose”. This Dosage area will make me trip, any more than 400 seeds will produce a STRONG one. I won’t explain the effects, because it is up to your mood and mental state. Full blown mental Psychedelia. Visual effects noted.
On to preparation!
Step 1; Plug in the coffee grinder, and pour in the Glories. Don’t overload it, we don’t want to overwork the electric components and heat up the powder too much, as it could potentially damage the active principle. Grind the seeds into as fine a powder as possible. This is to be done in a dimly lit room with no sunlight contact whatsoever.
Step 2; Once your seeds are ground into a fine flour, pour the powder into your container, retrieve the pure bottled water from the refrigerator, and pour a generous amount of pure h20 into the container and seed meal. Put on the lid, and ensure a good seal.
Step 3; Cover the container with a cloth, foil, whatever will prevent light from shining on the brew. Shake vigorously, and place the airtight covered container in the refrigerator. It takes 2 hours. I have let it sit everywhere from 1 hour to 15 hours. 15 is wasting time. The active compounds in the seed meal quickly bind to the water, so 2 or 2 ½ hours is plenty. Note: Every 15 minutes, take the container out and Shake it vigorously, and replace it in the refrigerator. This will ensure all the active chemicals bind to the water and ensure complete LSA infusion.
Step 4; take the covered container from the refrigerator, and transport it back to the dimly lit room. Proceed to uncover the container, and pour the brew through the strainer and into a cup. Some people like to flavor it, I don’t. It might not affect the brew at all, but it is not that bad of a taste. (You can dress a goat in a suit, but it’s still a goat.)
Last step; Drink the brew.
Personally once I finish up the drink, I go about my daily off time relax routine. In my opinion It is so much better to be pleasantly surprised by the effects than waiting and thinking thoughts like, are we there yet? Is it working yet? I just chill and let the seeds take me on a ride. I find this makes the overall trip better and more positive, as there is a large link between the mental state before a trip begins and the overall experience.
Hope this was helpful. Enjoy and have a good life.
