In the past couple of years, I have taken MDMA recreationally more than I would like to admit, LSD here and there, shrooms whenever I can get my hands on them, and a fair bit of the ganj. Before this, I was prescribed clonazepam for anxiety, which made me dopy, then lorazepam, which didn't really have a pronounced effect on me, so I moved onto Xanax.

I have taken this drug in the past in smaller therapeutic doses and have always made sure to space my doses out apart by a few days if possible (the most I've been able to get usually 0.5mg max) and it has done some amazing things to reduce anxiety. Yesterday, I was very unintelligent and decided to try a full 2mg dosage of alprazolam, but that's not even where the least intelligent part begins. I was hoping to space out my initial dosage between an hour, but ended up taking more than anticipated (2.25 at this point).

I felt no effects after the first hour and a half and decided to take another .75 mg (3mg total now). Then things started to get fuzzy. I woke up this morning in my bed, which was confusing - I don't remember moving to my room at all. When I checked my medicine cabinet, with an amount consistent with taking 9.5mg of alprazolam, meaning I have no clue how many more I took at a time at what interval (must have been pretty shortly after 8:30 I'm guessing. And I honestly don't even know if it's because I forgot about the earlier ones, which scares me. I don't remember how I was feeling at that point, what would prompt me to take way more than I initially planned.

The part that bummed me the most is that I missed out hanging with my friends, and really really wish I could have the evening back. I'm not touching these again for a long time. My friends were over last night, and I fell asleep before 10:00 and I didn't get up until 15 hours later. I feel really really crummy today, feel like I can't walk, and am not planning on taking this medication again. Most of all, I didn't get to hang with my friends because I passed out so early all because I decided it might be fun to try this (in retrospect it was pretty selfish because we had plans for the evening and I was a blubbering fool beforehand and passed out before we could even go out).

I've decided I'm taking a break from alprazolam. I wasn't on a very high dosage (this spike was a first-time for me) and have enough pills to me taper off safely. Overall, I did not find this experience enjoyable in the least part. I don't think I'll ever try this drug again, recreationally especially.

What I have been able to draw from this experience is that I think I'm ready to slowly stop taking this drug and looking into other venues for anxiety. I'm grateful for the times when it has been extremely helpful, but I think it's best for me to stop using it at this point. It has truly helped me to calm my anxiety in the past, but I'm too terrified a person to let this black-out happen again even if it is under very very foolish circumstances
