I acquired a sample of kratom from a fellow worker on a construction site one day. I was smoking weed with my boss and offered him some but he declined and said he didnt smoke at work. He came back a few minutes later with a bag of green powered and started telling us what it was. He mentioned the opiate like effects of it and that it was legally bought online. My boss wasn't interested but I love a good experiment. He gave me approximately a quarter oz on the spot free of charge because of its low price (and the fact he had several kilos in his truck).

I took about a gram of it to see if it had the effects he mentioned. The first thing I noticed was a pleasant mixture of an opiate body high and mental focus of psychoactive stimulants. I was euphoric and work became more of a fun activity than a daily chore. I was more motivated and detail orientated. My work quality greatly improved, and I was given a raise that same day. After the body high wore off, I still had the intense focus I would have on amphetamines. I was very excited about the new drug discovery and continued to take 1-3 grams every work day. I threw up once after taking around 5 grams at home.

I ran out of kratom after a week and waited to run into the guy on another job site. I finally did and I offered him $40 for a bag. He gave me 3 oz. I was very happy. I was taking the stuff every day for its stimulant like effects without caring about the body high. I was happy to have my ADD under control for once. Life was improving.

I started to notice a higher tolerance to kratom after a few weeks. I was now taking up to 6 grams a day. I experienced occasional nausea, similar to opiates effect on my stomach. Instant onset and instant relief after vomiting. Luckily this never happened at work. Physical activity seemed to lower the negative side effects.

I ran out of kratom after a while. My boss wasn't paying me on a regular schedule, and I eventually quit working for him. Since then I have sought treatment for my ADD and was prescribed adderall. I love it but it does tend to have more side effects than kratom. I never felt dependant on the plant but after a few weeks of taking adderall I cant get out of bed without taking it. I am planning on talking to my psychiatrist about kratom and the effects it had on my ADD. I like adderall but I dont want it to be a life time solution to my problems. If I could take kratom on days where I needed more focus, I would feel much more safety with my health. I also feel like I would stop smoking weed and drinking. I've cut marijuana out of my life in order to find a job, but I tend to crave alcohol when adderall wears off. I never experienced this with kratom. I believe in regular doses it can greatly improve my life.
