My first experience with nitrous oxide has to be the worst experience ever. I went in for my first tattoo removal treatment, a large tattoo that suggested nitrous.

After I inhaled a few times I felt the effects, I felt as though I couldn't breath, each breath became harder, I signaled that I needed less, he turned it down. Then, as I stared at the heart monitor I noticed the rate increase and continued to increase. I felt the needles from the numbing, but it felt more like a sewing machine running along my back, I heard the doctor and nurses talking, it went in and out.

Soon I was in the dream world, but it felt incredibly real, as if I were another soul. It was dark and cold, I saw myself dying, I was struggling to breath. Soon I saw 'the light of death'. I was screaming no, over and over, screaming that I needed more time, but no one could hear me. Then, this is probably the strangest part, I remember telling myself that I would remember my life and this was a repeat of another event, that I was truly a different soul entering my body, I kept telling myself not to forget. That continued for awhile, until I heard the doctors yelling to me that it was okay. I woke up crying and in a lot of fear, I was shaking and couldn't stop.

Now, I remember the entire 'dream', I keep asking myself, although a crazy question, was that a dream of something that happened in a past life, or just a really messed up experience while on nitrous. I have 5 more removal treatments, I'm petrified to go through that again, but I still can't shake the thought that it was an open gate to something more than just a high.
