I went to a music festival with a friend, 'A', and was sitting on a blanket in the sun around 2pm, drinking a cocktail, smoking a cigarette, and a mutual friend 'R' gets out his pipe and offers me a couple hits of what both he and I thought was marijuana.

I had been drinking and don't smoke pot very often, so it made me sleepy. I laid down on the blanket, closed my eyes, and relaxed for a bit. I got thirsty again, and the last thing I remember was getting up and going back into my tent to make myself another drink.

I remember experiencing myself inside my brain, dying over and over. The experience was reliving a suicide attempt from a few years ago over and over, only this time, the attempt was successful and I had died. I experienced my death in multiple scenarios, over, and over, and over.

The next thing I remember that was 'real' I was rolled onto my back, to look up into the face of the friend I had come with, A, shaking me by the shoulders saying 'You're not going to die here, honey, wake up! Wake up!' I rolled over and threw up in the grass. I was lying on the ground next to a red car, which I think I was afraid to leave behind because I thought it was my own car, which was hours away at home and I hadn't driven to the fest. A girl from another campsite heard what was going on and helped A get me moved over toward our tent. Every few feet, I would have to throw up, until I ultimately ended up coughing up bile in dry, painful heaves. I began feeling incredibly, amazingly hot. I remember A pouring bottles of water on my head and wrapping my head in cold cloths trying to get me cooled back down because I was burning up and sweating from every pore on my body.

They told me that I had been lying on the ground next to that car for almost an hour, and that they only realized something was very wrong when they heard me begin screaming violently that I didn't want to die here and calling my husband's name to help me when my husband had not come with us. I had a horrible sunburn on my shoulders for days from having lain in direct sunlight for so long.

I take antidepressants and anticonvulsants for bipolar disorder (I have listed what meds I took in the 24 hour period preceding this experience, some of which are taken before bed and others in the morning after breakfast), and it was suggested that may have caused this, but I have smoked marijuana in the past to no ill effect. I also took LSD and mushrooms later to no drastic ill side effects either. The only other time I have ever experienced something similar to this was a time that I smoked a 'spice' herbal incense product in a large-ish quantity, and suspect that this was sold to R as marijuana or that the marijuana was laced with that type of chemical.
