I bought five grams of Lion’s tail flowers. My only methods of drug intake are either orally or using my volcano vaporizer as I don’t smoke. I started by vaporizing a small amount, about a pinch of flowers, with the volcano temperature set to five and a half. That was enough for one balloon. The vapor was pleasant, although a bit thick, and reminded me of potpourri. I felt a bit of light headedness but not much more. I then packed some more flowers in the volcano valve which was enough for several balloons until exhaustion of the material.
After maybe five balloons, I indeed achieved a pleasant intoxication quite reminiscent of that of cannabis. There was the body high of cannabis and a very mellow version of the head high. Simply put, the head high consisted of a state of uneventful gentle relaxation deprived of the trippy effects of cannabis (no accelerated ideation, no hyperesthesia, no time warp or increased sense of humour etc). On the other hand, the body high was quite luscious and pleasurable very much like cannabis. However as a whole it felt a bit subpar and required several balloons to achieve less than what I get with a single balloon of cannabis. I felt pleasantly surprised yet underwhelmed. I would call this a ++ using the Shulgin scale.
Consequently, feeling a bit frustrated, I took the rest of my stuff -probably four to three grams- and proceeded to making a tea : I let the material soak in hot non-boiling water for maybe twenty minutes and proceeded to drinking it. The tea had an orange and yellow colour with a very bitter taste that I counteracted by eating half a lemon as I drank it. About twenty minutes later I started to feel a bit of a buzz (light headedness + relaxation + fuzzy warmth) which lasted for maybe an hour or so. It was never as strong as what I had previously achieved with the vaporizer, so really only a definite +. However I should mention that my stomach wasn’t empty back then. Also, an effect I didn’t mention so far is that in every case there was a definite gentle mood lift (no placebo). And that’s pretty much it.
This material is for real but unimpressive in my opinion. It’s certainly reminiscent of cannabis, no doubt about that, but it does nothing that cannabis can’t do and better, notably because unlike cannabis it feels like I need a constant influx of the stuff to remain high. It would be fine to use if that were the only thing I had access to. But other than that, I don’t really have a strong push to go on with the wild dagga.
Last but not least, the live plant is quite pretty and ornamental. I’m considering adding it to my garden !
