When I quit using opiates, I naturally missed the feeling but the lifestyle just was not worth it to me, anymore. I was fed up with it and realized I was just 'better than that'. I was killing myself and a spiritual experience showed this to me.
I tried Kratom once while still on Suboxone ,and Suboxone definitely inhibits the action of Kratom. I fully expected it to but this was just andexperiment, after all.
Now I know what you are thinking; using Kratom, as a former heroin junkie, was a very slippery move to make, indeed. As luck would have it, I have only used Kratom maybe three-four times in the six months since I got off Suboxone (including today). My usual dose is around 8-10 grams of premium grade (a very high dose. I would not recommend starting at a dose that high). Kratom, as opiate-like as it is, does not instill within me neither the desire to do opiates nor to repeat the Kratom experience the following day.

8g of Kratom feels like about 40mg Hydrocodone to me. Even gives me the itches and nausea (feelings I came to love, over time, when opiate related; they meant I was definitely high!). Smoking cannabis about 20 minutes after taking Kratom can easily put me on a nod.
Anytime I start thinking how nice it would be to just do H. Or Oxy one more time, I buy some Kratom. It eliminates this mental jonesing completely, every time. Kratom has kept me from relapsing several times. True, it doesn't pack the punch of Oxy or Heroin but it definitely gives me enough of what I want. As I mentioned, the effects are very comparable to Hydrocodone. It even 'plugs me up' so to speak.
It's wonderful to have found a way to have an opiate-like experience occasionally without feeling a need to repeat the experience the next day. Kratom is not my favorite drug by any means (I'm more into shrooms and LSD these days) but it is definitely a comfort now and then. I am not recommending former opiate addicts to use Kratom; I may be lucky that it doesn't seem to cause me any problems leading to knocking me off the wagon.
I was very surprised! It's legal here in the states, too, and I don't have to screw around with shifty/shady opiate dealers anymore. That's another relief.
All that being said, Kratom is a fabulous way for me to revisit some old feelings that I enjoyed while refraining from fucking my life up, again.
