A brief history about me, I suffer from bipolar and anxiety and like many I find relief with cannabis from my symptoms. Unfortunately I live in a state where there is no medical marijuana and it is illegal. I have not smoked in a couple of years, perhaps maybe 3 now. I am currently not taking any medicine for my illness because I had to stop due to side effects. I have however smoked hops in the past after finding out it was in the cannabis family. In the past I had just smoked the flowers, but more recently I had ordered some pure hops powder.

I had heard of a product called hops hash but never tried it, plus the website said they are not selling it anymore so I got an idea to make some myself. What I did was use a quick method that is sometimes used to turn kief into a block of hash. I will detail it for you now if you don't know what I am talking about.
Step 1: I get some non stick wax cooking paper and fold it up into a square or rectangle, I want to make a little pouch where I can pour the hops powder in and have it not fall out the other side.
Step 2: Pour the hops powder in the wax paper and fold it over once or twice to seal in the hops.
Step 3: Get some newspaper and wrap it around the wax paper with the hops in it, then wet the newspaper. (note: I just used regular paper, it works just the same.)
Step 4: Get an iron that I use to iron clothes and set it to low, or medium and I basically just sit it on top of the wet paper and press slightly. I do this no more than 25 seconds on medium, then I turn the paper over to the other side and repeat the process. I tend to do this for about 10 minutes at least.
At some point I will start to see the paper getting stiff, and that is really the time it is about done. I do like to continue with the iron a little bit longer after it starts to get stiff because the first time I made the hops hash it did crumble a little bit. I find that the extra time allows it to hold together better. Just a word of caution, I don't leave the iron on for too long as it might burn the hops.
As far as the effects go from smoking this, it tends to come on slow for me. About 20-30 minutes. I like to smoke it in a water pipe. In fact I tried just the powder in a pipe when I first ordered the powder and might have got some in my lung, not sure but I quickly decided to make it into a solid form. But getting back to the effects. For me I might compare it to klonopin, but not as strong. A larger dose is needed for me to decide if it could get as strong as klonopin. It seems to lower my anxiety level and seems to reduce pain in my body if I have some. Like for example if my back is tense it seems to relax it somewhat. In my opinion, it is a good alternative to the illegal stuff.
I would prefer cannabis, but hops has medical value as well. It is very good for insomnia too which I have as well. The effects for me are pleasant and euphoric. I get a pleasant stone without the altered thought process.
