Gabapentin seems to work better if I stagger my doses, like taking 400 mg times four over 2 or 3 hours with something light, which enhances absorption. Then I have to be patient and wait the 2 or so hours until the peak. It results in a benzo-like relaxation, but has a disassociative edge and a rushing kind of energy.
I understand why a couple people say it's like ecstasy, because it causes loss of social inhibition, along with music enhancement. Tolerance builds much like a psychedelic, where I have to wait a couple weeks between 'trips' or they are underwhelming.
This is a nice drug, and I only 'binge' on a few pills, as this medicine should be respected for its legitimate use in treating fibromyalgia and nerve pain. It certainly has improved my quality of life. The only problem is the cost...without good insurance it's not worth it. The whole 'non habit forming' bullshit is just that; if I take it daily, I will experience some withdrawals (mostly anxiety and tremor).
