  0.5 g smoked Cannabis
BODY WEIGHT: 11 st
An Interesting Experiment

What I used for blue lotus beer-
25 litre fermenting bin
Airlock
Hydrometer
45x 500ml Bottles
Crown capper
Bottle caps
Siphoning tube
5.5 litre stainless steel saucepans
Collinder
500g blue lotus (10 grams per 500ml bottle)
1.5kg sugar
5tsp yeast nutrient
1/2 tsp priming sugar per bottle
1tsp sucralose
1 sachet cider yeast

How I made blue lotus beer-
Sanitise all equipment with home brew sanitiser before use. I used one with sodium percarbonate.
Pour some warm water into the sanitised fermenting bin just enough to dissolve the sugar in and stir thoroughly.
Seal the fermenting bin.
Take the blue lotus and spread it between 4 pans and fill with water (a bigger vessel would be better). Boil for 30 minutes and leave to soak overnight.
Strain the dark liquid from the pans into a fermenting bin getting as much juice from the blue lotus as possible.
The fermenting bin should be less than half full.
Put the blue lotus back in the pan and boil and leave overnight again for another extraction. The blue lotus should have lost all its colour at this stage.

Strain the rest of the contents into the fermenting bin. It's surprising how much liquid the blue lotus can absorb so I need to top up the bin with warm water.
Liquid should be between 20-23c.
Add 5tsp yeast nutrient and 1tsp sucralose.
I could take a hydrometer reading at this point if I want to know what strength it will be but I just estimate it will be 5-7% abv.
Put the fermenting bin where it will be left and gently sprinkle the yeast on top of the liquid and replace the lid.
The solution should give off co2 for about 3 weeks.

After I think the beer has finished fermenting I take a gravity reading with the hydrometer. It needs to be below 1.000 before I bottle the beer otherwise the bottle will explode.
Syphon the beer into the bottles and add 1/2 tsp of sugar to prime the bottle or use priming drops as I did.
Leave the beer for at least 3 weeks before opening.

I had a bottle after 3 normal European lagers that I brewed. There's a noticeable difference between this and the others. I get a little sway or a bump. It feels good. I have a strange but pleasant feeling swaying me left and right. At first I thought I put too much sweetener in it but right now I think I got it about right. It's been bottled for 4 weeks. The flavour is unusual but good. It's sweet then slightly woody/liquoricey. When I tried it before bottling it was really sweet then really bitter then had an aftertaste of liquorice.

I'll be on this for the next month or so and I'll try to keep a record. I confine my drinking to weekends which is hard work while making home brew. I need to try this on its own and then with cannabis.

I'm getting waves of this rocking feeling and it feels good. It's like standing near the ocean but with an added good feeling. Hope I'm not more rough tomorrow.

Felt no more rough than usual the day after but I could faintly taste the blue lotus all day the next day.

I tried again with just the blue lotus drink the week after. I am now on my third bottle (2 hours in). After I had finished my first I was convinced I had finished my second because of how intoxicating it is. I feel quite tired and keep getting the urge to just go to bed but I don't think I would be able to sleep just yet. I have a sensation of rocking left to right that I keep feeling on top of the obvious alcohol intoxication.

It feels pleasant but it's nothing to write home about. For the price of the blue lotus I could have made 5 times as much normal lager and I have to say I regret my decision slightly but I'm also glad I tried it for myself. I'll try and drink 4 and see what happens which will be equivalent to 40g dried blue lotus. I suppose it's worth mentioning at this point I get paid monthly and am skint. All I have is beer as well as my other hobbies like xbox but I'm slightly down about not socialising with my friends this week. I'm here on my own listening to music which isn't a bad thing as happiness comes from within and enjoying your own company is half the battle. I do feel really calm though I have to admit. I can see why people say it's like diazepam although it's nowhere near as heavy duty. I have some dark psytrance playing and it's just on really I'm not enjoying it any more than normal but it's not doing my head in either. I'll be putting some psydub on next. I think I may as well have a spliff too when I start my next bottle because otherwise there won't be much to talk about.

Actually yeah this does go pretty well with weed. I'm on bottle 4 and I've just had half a spliff. Didn't want to cane it cos I'm not used to this. I feel really good actually. This is better than normal beer and weed. I've got a really happy buzz with less interrupting thoughts. I feel warm and I'm really enjoying the music I'm listening to. I'll carry on leisurely drinking my beer. I stuck another 2 in the fridge earlier.

(4 hours in) I've been really warm and happy for ages now actually. I'm very drunk right now. It'll be time for bed soon...

In conclusion this drink didn't do a great deal on its own but when combined with cannabis got rid of the voice that I get in my head when stoned and made me feel really warm and content. I wouldn't recommend brewing this beer unless you smoke cannabis as there are much cheaper and nicer tasting alternatives.
