My psychiatrist (whom I trust with my life) has informed me that I have Bipolar I, and may currently be in the midst of a hypomanic episode.

She has currently prescribed me with 10 mg of Zyprexa, and I'm not sure what kind of effect it is having on my body! She told me it is a 'mood stabilizer', but according to some folks on this site it is actually an anti-psychotic! I'm not psychotic and do not suffer from schizophrenia. Very confusing and troubling.

At the time of this writing, I am on 5mg. At higher doses (such as 10mg, which I tried a few weeks ago) I would describe the drug as having a sedative effect on my mind, making it unnaturally suppressed and sluggish.

Perhaps slowing my mind down will allow me to focus more on my career aspirations (I am currently unemployed), but I would like to reach to point where I am able to live without being chemically dependent on this drug. If I were to be denied health insurance for any reason, it would be very expensive to procure!
