DOSE:
3 g oral Kratom (tea)
I have been using this drug as a way to help cope with quitting drinking. Commonly it is used to overcome opiate withdrawal, which I have fortunately not had to endure.

It produces a generally mild effect, but when used with proper dosage it can provide some of the emotional qualities that I personally used alcohol for, though I wouldn't say that it is comparable to alcohol. I have been using it for a few months from time to time now. I don't feel any craving or addiction to it, as consuming it as a hot tea, which I feel produces the best results, is quite heavy on the stomach. I can tolerate the taste but it's not something I would want to do every night.

I notice when I dose just right, I can have effects such as feeling more at peace, more positive thoughts, a slight head buzz, body feels heavy and sedated, vision can become slightly blurred (I would consider this positive), lights become brighter, more insightful and able to hold a meaningful conversation. When I am stressed and I feel locked into a negative thought pattern, this drug seems to allow me to look at things in a broader sense, and realize that this is only a small part of my life, so I don't need to worry, and I focus more on the positive things in my life.

I notice that if I do not heat the substance (3-6 grams) it produces very little if any effect.
I notice that if I do not heat the substance (3-6 grams) it produces very little if any effect.
It also tastes a lot worse when its hot but at least I get the full effect. Negative effects, which only happen with too large of a dose, can be feeling extra tired or out of it for the next 24 hours, as well as difficulty sleeping but yet feeling more tired than usual as I try to sleep. When I take a lot, I notice that when I try to sleep the 'inner movie' in my head becomes more present, and sometimes I experience some very intense psychadelic visuals, though it is not a hallucination, it is sort of like a vivid day dream when my eyes are closed. I have experienced this sober as well but it seems to happen every time I take a bit too much of this drug. I can also experience some intense nausea. I once had an experience where I took ten grams, and got up to use the restroom while I was trying to sleep, and I felt as if my head was filled with water and it felt like I was wading through deep water as I walked.

I experimented with dosage to find the sweet spot where I can feel a sort of clarity that I didn't have before, some inebriating effects, but not overpowering where I feel defeated by the effects. Also, I stir the tea before every drink, or avoid drinking what is left at the bottom, as the thick liquid that forms at the bottom will make me feel quite ill.
