I smoked weed for the first time when I was 23, I did in on a very casual basis (1-2 times a year), since I did not know many people who smoked. I do not drink a lot of alcohol and also don’t take other drugs (I tried shrooms once, but never felt the urge to try them again). Things changed when I was writing my bachelor thesis during the last semester of university. Two friends of mine started smoking on a regular basis and invited me over. Soon it became our ritual to hook up 2-3 times per week, hit the bong and play computer games, watch movies or do something outside. This was the time when I got really high on weed and kept being stoned for 3-4 hours. I remember walking back home from my friend's house and enjoying the high while taking in all the environmental stimuli. Normally I would stay stoned for some time when I was back home, hence I enjoyed reading Wikipedia for hours (especially history or astronomy related stuff). I must admit, that this was a great time in my life, where I had a lot of friends living nearby and getting great grades in college.
this was a great time in my life, where I had a lot of friends living nearby and getting great grades in college.
After that I moved into a city near Frankfurt and started my master degree, here things changed significantly. I did not find a lot of friends, since the finance classes that I attended were full of rich and arrogant people that I shared zero interests with. Furthermore the exams in the new university were very difficult and exhausting, hence I spend a lot more time with studying than in my previous college. One of my weed smoking friends moved in the same housing complex that I used to live and soon we started smoking again. First, we smoked 3 times a week, than once per day and soon after that we enjoyed weed 2 times a day almost on a daily basis. We smoked primarily through a bong, sometimes we used blunts.
I never smoked as much weed as during this time – despite the heavy consumption I was doing sports 4-5 times a week (aaah the good old college days…) and finally got good grades at university. During the last semesters, I started to work for the finance department of my university and began to work on my master thesis. During this time I smoked weed on a daily basis for 2 years. I started to realize, that it does affect me: I was getting a bit forgetful, but the weed helped to become more calm (normally I get annoyed quickly by a lot of stuff and obsess about things). Also to some extent I became more unconcerned/detached about a lot of stuff, that would previously annoy my more.
Currently I am almost 29 and have a good job that makes god money and, I am able to live in a very nice house with my girlfriend. I smoke on a daily basis (sometimes I pause for a weekend or two), but now only once during the evening. I usually do this when my girlfriend goes to bed (she hates weed and is not very tolerant about me smoking on a regular basis).
Overall, I have to say that cannabis is a great recreational drug, it helps me to relax and explore my personality. Still it is a drug and I could get addicted, but to be honest I think I could stop pretty easy, if I were really willing to do. I personally think, as long as I am getting my life together, it does not hurt to smoke.
