DOSE:
T+ 0:00
6 mg insufflated 2C-T-21 (powder / crystals)
T+ 2:00   repeated inhaled Nitrous Oxide (gas)
  T+ 9:00     Benzodiazepines
BODY WEIGHT: 130 lb
Summary: ~6 mg insufflated 2C-T-21 produced a very strong trip that came on almost immediately and was totally unexpected based on prior experiences on 8 and 10 mg ingested orally.

Background:
I recently found myself with an unexpected free afternoon with my good friend S, with whom I have many years of tripping experience on a wide range of substances. Our time was a bit limited as we both had evening plans, so we rummaged through the drug boxes and found the remnants of a bag of 2C-T-21 from years past. A quick search turned up a trip report that I myself had written back in 2003 extolling the virtues of this substance. I remembered it being quite manageable, so we decided it would be a fine choice even if we weren’t quite all the way down by the time we had other commitments to attend to. And if we insufflated it (which my report indicated he had done before with good effect), that should shorten the arc anyway.

The scale revealed that we had 20 mg total, which seemed like just about enough for the two of us: I would take 6 mg (down from the 8 I’d previously taken as I expected to need less when snorting it) and he would take the rest. (He is notoriously hard-headed and could probably have taken twice as much with no ill effects.) The scale ended up acting finicky so I would not say that that was an accurate measurement, but was certainly much less than half the total amount of material.

Details:

T-0:00: Insufflate small line of 2C-T-21. The taste is horrific – like burning hair. I have snorted worse things, but not by much. We question our life choices.

T+0:02: I am already getting alerts. I realize we need to put everything away in a hurry (don’t want the cats getting into the stash), clean up, and get horizontal.

T+0:05: I am seriously already at a +4. That is how fast it came on. Visuals so intense I cannot keep my eyes open. S is not affected anywhere near as much and is able to put on ambient music and finish setting us up in my room. I can only lie down with my eyes closed and talk myself out of panicking. I did not expect this level of high and I’m not sure I want to be here. However... here we are. I remind myself that I took a finite amount, I have not overdosed, I am safe, S is functional, and I might as well breathe into it and enjoy it. Years of training pay off.

T+0:20 or so: I have leveled off but am still experiencing intense visual/auditory/tactile stimulation. If I open my eyes, I see ripples of color and light across the room. S fetches some nitrous and is able to approach my level of high using it but is in no way as incapacitated as I am. I feel pretty certain that I would be nauseous if I tried to get up. My cat checks in with me and I see tracers coming off of each hair on her back. Whoa.

Right around now I comment that I would never have intentionally gotten this high on this drug and therefore am experiencing something I probably never would have otherwise. So, there’s that.

T+1:00: Finally coming down enough to sit up and even get up to open the door to the deck. I have that giddy feeling one gets from having lived through something unexpectedly difficult. Now things are just shiny and pretty.

T+2:00: We have moved into the sunshine on the deck. I am now able to consider a little nitrous, so we talk and take hits until it’s time to part ways.

T+3:00: I could drive to my evening appointment but decide that a Lyft is the better part of valor. My vision is still a little swimmy and my focus is off. I have a hard time following conversations fully but otherwise feel fine.

By bedtime (9 hours after dosing) I felt tired but my brain was still busy. Ended up needing a benzo to assist in falling asleep. Slept fine after that and was a little tired but otherwise fine the next day.

In conclusion: insufflating phenethylamines (or at least this one) is a very different experience than taking them orally! Turns out that long come-up period gives your brain a chance to adjust to what’s happening, vs being rocketed into a supersonic psychedelic experience within moments (like, say, with DMT). Yes, you save a lot of trip time, but be prepared. Prepare your space before you dose. Total rookie error on my part and I just lucked out that my companion was more functional than I was.
