Visuals and No Dysphoria

DOSE:
10 mg oral Pharms - Aripiprazole (daily)
225 mg oral Pharms - Venlafaxine (daily)
    repeated vaporized Cannabis (extract)
2 bowls smoked Salvia divinorum (dried)
BODY WEIGHT: 256 lb
Location: Back porch of my shared house. Housemates do not permit indoor smoking. Roughly 10 PM.

Background: I am fascinated by psychedelics, but at the time of writing, I am on daily medications that dampen psychedelic effect. I have taken up to 400 ug LSD + 25 mg 2C-B at once, with minor visuals and a pronounced stoning effect as the result. I hope to eventually change to an antidepressant that is not serotonergic in nature, but for the time being, the vast majority of psychedelics are simply not worthwhile for me. Hence my turning to less popular substances.

Salvia was my first trip, at age 18. I have never had visuals as all-encompassing or as colorful as that initial breakthrough, though I smoke salvia occasionally. I rarely get dysphoric from salvia, and I enjoy pairing it with other substances

; cannabis and, sometimes, classical psychedelics. (I have found that serotonergic psychedelics do mix well with dissociatives for me.)

Emotions beforehand: Frustrated, sad, bored. Impatient.

The Experience:

I had a very small amount (not weighed, so I can't say exactly how much) of plain salvia leaf left. Feeling despondent about my inability to use some 4-AcO-MET I had recently acquired, I decided to try combining the remainder of my salvia with the high from my wax pen. I loaded up my pen, got my pipe and salvia ready, and headed to my back porch.

I took the first hit of salvia, keeping the flame low as I inhaled. I could feel the slight wobbliness of a salvia experience begin to overtake me, but it was clear I could go deeper. I refilled my bowl and took my second hit, using up the last of my salvia, and closed my eyes.

The first clear visual I got was a reptilian creature composed of bones that writhed in my vision. It appeared something between a serpent and a crocodile. Then it morphed and changed into a field of recognizable dinosaur shapes (I remember a stegosaurus) again, made up of grey and white bones that seemed to dance before me.

This image flickered and began to change until it became a vaguely familiar scene projected in a painterly, impressionistic style. I opened my eyes and realized that it was my back porch, where I was sitting, and closed my eyes again to return to the CEV.

The visuals dissipated soon after, and I was left feeling a sense of satisfaction, as well as the ineffable salvia afterglow that I have acquired a taste for.

Reflection:

Strange as that first vision may sound, it wasn't scary at all for me. The whole experience actually felt really good - it reminded me that even if I can't enjoy classical psychedelics the way I want to yet, I can still enjoy other substances.

This trip didn't feel especially meaningful in the visuals I had, but I hope to experiment more with salvia on its own and in combination.

Emotions afterwards: Content, optimistic.
