I find that a lemon zester works great to grind the Silene capensis roots into a easier to work with form (like old school pencil sharpener shavings) that can be further reduced into a fine powder with a mortar and pestle.

I find that when I put this powdered root into a capsules and chase it down with some water it works just as well as other methods, without the taste.
