I didn't really know much about ethnobotanicals until I was screwing around on the internet one night and heard the term "Legal High" for the first time. I knew of course about drug plants, but more of the illicit kind; P. Cubensis mushrooms and quite a bit of cannabis, San Pedro Cacti and Salvia. I didn't know you could hop online and a world of strange drug plants I'd never heard of were at my fingertips. I went just a bit mad with this sudden power, ordering Mimosa Hostilis bark and Syrian Rue, HB woodrose seeds. Kratom, Blue Lotus as flower and as an extract and a very odd mushroom called Amanita Muscaria.

I found myself very curious with this "Faerie tale mushroom", that also jumped out at me as the same mushroom Super Mario eats to gain his variety of abilities. The effects were described as not really psychedelic at all and more comparable to that of alcohol, but with a somewhat entheogenic quality to the delerium the Amanita Muscaria is known to bring on.

The first thing I noticed an hour or so after eating the caps was a limb heaviness and a heavy sleepiness. I put on a Charlie Mingus DVD and tried to watch it, but the fairy mushrooms put me to sleep. This is the first drug experience I ever had that BEGAN with me passing out.

In some X amount of time I woke up...and holy crap everything had gone weird. The Mingus DVD was still playing but the band seemed to be hovering above the stage and everything was fuzzed over with a barrage of colors. My limbs were still super heavy, objects appeared kind of floating above one another, and both larger and further away at the same time. Odd, odd trip. Not bad, but I haven't run out to try it again like a tryptamine experience.
