21st Century Opium
Originating from a plant grown in India through a lengthy and tedious journey, the opium sits on my hands spewing a strong and distinct scent. It smells as "strong" as marijuana buds, but does not smell the same. It's a pungent odor - reminds me of earthy soil.
The texture was hard and rigid, almost like a hardened soap, but moldable into balls of pea-like size at the same time. Flakes would drop off if I were to rush and seperate it. Colour was dark brown, almost blackish, holding it up to light, it was opaque.
I tried to form a small lump of 100mg ball from what looks like a used soap down to its last few washes. The lump was vaporized on the end of a straighten paper clip. Without any effort to inhale the smoke, I took a whiff of the odor, it wasn't sweet like others have described, it smelled like a burning tree branch.
The lump was heated with indirect flame, held below, it would bubble and fizz, when moved closer, the lump would burst into flames, seemingly flammable. The byproduct was an ash-like clump that resembles unburnt charcoal. The odor and texture put me off smoking it, after all, I did not have an opium pipe or the faintest clue of how to properly consume it in any other way.
Ingestion of a 200mg pea-like ball produced a mild nauseaus feeling with minimal euphoria.
Perhaps I had received a subpar product or I was too unfamiliar with it. It is after all, the narcotic that brought on a war and affected countless amounts of people during the 18th and 19th century. I would not be trying it in the future as I don't seem to achieve any of the sensation expected from opiates.
