One day before school, I was commenting on how tired and braindead I felt, and my friend replied that she had something to help. We went to the bathroom and she handed me a pill, one half black and one half yellow with blackstripes. She told me they were yellowjackets- caffeine pills. I popped it in my mouth without a second thought, and went to class.
About an hour later, I began to feel the effects of the caffeine. My heart began to beat a little faster, and my body felt somewhat light. If my feet weren't planted firmly on the floor, my legs would shake. But I felt great. In math, I actually understood what was going on in a lesson just a day before I was clueless about. When I tried to read in English though, I couldn't focus on the book because my hands were shaking too much to see the words. Energy was surging though my body, and I wanted to get up and move around. I was beginning to feel overwhelmed and nauseous from sitting still. But when I got up, I felt better.
Needless to say, I bought half a bottle from my friend, and fell in love with the distinctively marked pills. I took them for a week straight, and that weekend, I ran out. The caffeine had taken my appetite, so I hadn't eaten more than a sandwich in 4 or 5 days.. So my stomach was practically eating itself- at least that's what it felt like. I could barely walk from the weakness, and I felt like I was going to die.
The next day however, I had eaten and I felt better, except I was craving more.
And when I finally got more- I wanted to take a higher dose- I wasn't achieving the same state of mind. Paying no heed to the warning label, I popped three opened pills in my mouth (I wanted them to kick in faster). At first, it was okay. I was a bit more jumpy and agitated, but nothing too bad. Then I started to feel sick. I got that same overwhelmed feeling I got from sitting still, but this time it was accompanied by hot flashes and chills, and my mind felt like it was expanding and contracting. I spent most of lunch hour in the bathroom, kneeling over the toilet.
Next class period, I was sitting, talking to some friends, when I felt a wave of sickness crash into me, and I quickly exited the class and ran to the bathroom, where I proceeded to vomit some more.
Then it was the end of the day, and I was beginning to feel exhausted, but still had extreme amounts of energy somehow. I drove home, and ran right to the toilet. I threw up for what seemed like forever, until I thought my stomach was going to come up through my throat.
After this experience, I decided never to touch Yellow Jackets again!
