This experience took place in the summer of 2018 before my senior year of college. During this time, I had lost my job at a city public works when I got very drunk and high one night and fell down a steep hill and dislocated my shoulder and tore half of my labrum. During this time, I was jobless, smoking copious amounts of cannabis and getting pretty drunk at least three times a week and drinking most nights.

Also taking meds for my bipolar (Lamotrigine and Seroquel), it had greatly amplified my depression and during this time I had seen a psychiatrist who had prescribed me Lorazepam. The pills, I believe, came in 1.5mg doses and she had told me to experiment with the dosage during times of anxiety. Of course being someone to experiment with substances, I was going to take the recreational route. Fast forward one day when I was bored on an August afternoon, I had taking 3mg of Lorazepam and took a nap (which was around 4-5pm). After waking up, I had gotten a text from a friend inviting me to drink at our friend’s house. I had prepared a couple bowls worth of cannabis in my grinder and had made a vodka screwdriver mix which was probably roughly 12 drinks worth (70% vodka and 30% orange juice). Arriving to my friend’s house, there was no hesitation to start downing the screwdriver with the lorazepam in my system.

I can only recall getting about 4 drinks worth in before completely blacking out and had smoked a bowl of weed beforehand. While smoking, I had prepared another bowl for later that evening for when I wanted to smoke again. Again, I recall none of this happening and my friends still refuse to give me the full story
I recall none of this happening and my friends still refuse to give me the full story
, but it goes roughly like this. Apparently I had finished the entire bottle of the screwdriver, some beers, and apparently the other bowl in my car. I had said things to my friends that they would not repeat to this day to me and at one point of the night was messing around with my friend’s guitar and put it down for a second then asked where his guitar was and apparently sending mass Snapchats to people I didn’t even talk to on the app. From what I was told, I had not been reacting to the combination well and was told I was getting in really bad shape; to the point where my friends were calling my siblings almost panicking on what to do with me as I was throwing up all over the bathroom, collapsing and eventually passing out (and I have blacked out before hard and that means something when people are calling my family). I believe that my heart rate had gotten so low that I think that I could have almost died.

I was surprised that I did not end up in the hospital if I’m being honest. Eventually I wake up around 5am, confused as hell to what had happened as I had woken up from the floor in the bathroom next to the toilet. I was unsure of my state of sobriety at the time and didn’t want to be at my friend’s house anymore, so I headed out and thought my second bowl was ready for me to smoke. To my surprise, the bowl had already been smoked (by me during my blackout) which lead me to text my friend asking what had happened in which after, I proceeded to drive home. To this day I am not sure if I was sober or still intoxicated driving *nevertheless, I regret doing as I could have endangered many lives and my own even at 5am* but made it back home and proceeded to smoke a small bowl and take my Quetiapine to help me sleep since I have slight insomnia and am depended on the meds to this day.

Waking up a couple hours later, at around 9am, my head and vision were spinning like crazy and to move, I had to hold on to walls just to get around; only to realize that I was scheduled to meet with my counselor later that morning. Getting into my car, I was still spinning and was becoming nauseous and decided that it would be best to reschedule. After calling my counselor to reschedule, I proceed to go back into my house and sleep it off and had no hangover at all during this experience.

To this day, again, my friends will not tell me what I had said during that blackout, and that’s saying a lot since I say a lot of shit and wonder and worry if I had said any hurtful things to them which I believe I did. I would NEVER recommend this combination to anybody as I believe it was life threatening to me and I could have damaged my relationships with my friends and others.
