Resigning Myself to the Drowsiness

When I was trying to analyse my experience, I found little online, so I offer my experience in the hope of access to information for those interested.

I found the immediate effects to be underhanded, even deceiving in their intensity. The effects of relaxation, a cloudy-head and drowsiness were slow to set on and at such an intensity that, at the listed dosage, it was difficult to recognise I was under the effects of the plant. Of course, after the experience had concluded I could reflect to see that most definitely I was feeling the effects.

The main effect I experienced for the first half-hour was drowsiness.
The main effect I experienced for the first half-hour was drowsiness.
In activity, I was extraordinarily unfocused. Becoming lost in thought is a poor way to put it, but it is the closest analogy I can offer. This is not to imply what I experienced was unenjoyable, it was just deceptively intense.

Once I had resigned to the fact that I was well and truly under the effects of the plant, at the half-hour mark, I sat on my bed listening to relaxing music. It was at this point, with my mind now focused on allowing myself to communicate with the plant, that I felt the most enjoyment from the whole experience. My bed was awfully comfortable, I had the feeling of being sunk just an inch into it, merging with the material, so-to-speak. The music carried my cloudy head along a journey until the effects had died down to the point where I was actively able to focus intensely again.

Introspection was difficult during the experience, thoughts occurred in my mind as they regularly do but were difficult to discern and follow in any meaningful way. By far the best part of the experience was resigning myself to the drowsiness.

Make no mistake, though I describe the effects in their full intensity, I could have just as easily at any point in the experience stood up and been ‘sober’. The effects are mild, and it is possible to resist them – but why would you smoke a plant just to resist the effects?

Overall I akin the experience to one of a very light dosage of smoked cannabis – the relaxation and amplified auditory senses are abundantly present, in lieu of any noticeably altered state of consciousness. My experience lasted just under 2hrs, with the relaxation effects concluding at 1hr and 30m, the final 30m consisting of my head becoming clearer.

It should be noted that during the beginning and end of the experience, my head felt noticeably tense, akin to a mild headache. This was uncomfortable for the duration it lasted, which wasn’t long both times.

Safe travels.
