I was looking for something legal that could produce a marijuana-like high and I came across this plant, kanna and damiana. I looked up online and bought a bag of 50g - lowest amount any local vendor would sell, so I said well, I'll buy it.
First day, I decided to smoke it. I rolled with damiana, around 200 mg kanna and the rest damiana. Smoked the ... I guess I could call it a joint? and nothing happened. I then rolled another one - about 500mg with tobacco. Smoked it, nothing happened. I chose to give up for the night. This was on a Friday.
Now, on to Saturday. I basically did the same thing, but with a bigger dose. Between 0.6 and 0.8g of kanna and rest tobacco (3/4 of a cigarette). Smoked it, didn't feel anything.
Moving on to Sunday. I said fuck it and rolled about 1.25g of Kanna and some tobacco to make it bigger. Absolutely no effects.
Monday I decided to try making some tea out of it. I added 2 teaspoons in roughly 250 ml of water and made some tea. I drank it, and here come some effects - I had to go to the bathroom. I then said, well, might as well try smoking some. I added, I honestly do not know nor do care how much, but like a cigar's amount of tobacco much. Absolutely zero effect.
Tuesday I did the same, but with 2.5 teaspoons. No effect, aside from having to go to the bathroom.
Wednesday I added 4 teaspoons of Kanna and 2 of Damiana. Consumed the tea and waited for 1.30 hours. Again, aside from having to go to the bathroom (quicker effect than drinking coffee) absolutely no other effect.
Now there were about 10g left in the bag, so over the course of 5 days I had consumed around 40g of the plant with no effects whatsoever

. And that's when I gave up. Honestly, it was a complete waste of money, I did not feel less or more anxious, stressed, relaxed or anything else.
I did not try snorting or taking it sublingually seeing as the other two methods did not work. Also, there were some bigger pieces of the plant left and it was hard for me to separate only the fine powder so as to snort it.
Maybe it does work for others, but for me it was a waste of time and money.
As for the damiana, that's a similar story. Teas with 4-6 teaspoons with no effect, smoking it - with no effect. I rolled a "joint" that could be described as a fat blunt of damiana - and man, it took a while to smoke it. Absolutely no effect. Maybe, maybe a slight feeling of relaxation for like 5 minutes, but on a scale of 1 to 10 I'd rate it a 0.5 - extremely slightly different from baseline me - or placebo.
