I thought to myself, "This is the answer, the stuff they're talking about, this is the answer." It amazed me, what the LSD was doing, how it enabled me to see things so clearly.
[Erowid Note: Driving while intoxicated, tripping, or extremely sleep deprived is dangerous and irresponsible because it endangers other people. Don't do it!]
At some point in this trip E and I were driving around and we kinda came to this phrase for what was happening between us with the LSD, "the walls between us were coming down". It's funny because my Dad was a hippie and I remember him telling me how the Beatles had literally taken down the walls between their apartments. Well with E and I it was figuratively, but very, very real. See the thing is, I had known E for a while before this. We grew up together and the first time I ever smoked weed was with him. But we went to different schools so didn't hang out very much despite living a stone's throw from each other. I had pretty much labeled him a dweeb by the time I was in high school. Mainly because he wasn't a pothead like me.
Somehow though the LSD calmed me down to the point, made me humble enough to be able to actually learn about other people. And so it was with E. I discovered that quite contrary to my assumptions about E, he was actually a very deep, driven, and intellectually rigorous person. I came to respect him greatly and was almost in awe of him once I got to know him on such a deep level. We were hanging out in my backyard, talking. The sun began to rise, it was glorious. E was speaking truth. Out of the corner of my eye with the sun radiating on him he took on the countenance of Shiva, multi-limbed.

LSD gave me a sense of hope and dramatically shrunk my defiant and bloated ego that often got me into fights with people. With the help of LSD I learned the value of being humble, the value of being small and unobtrusive in the world. Because then you can hear the quiet voice of truth, when you actually listen and stop shouting at the world and thinking you know it all.
This experience with LSD was humbling.
