I started with four bags of seeds. It seemed like a good dose for my first ever psychedelic experience. Next time I’m definitely going to up the ante. I washed the seeds in water and some dish soap to avoid any fungicides and preservatives, then dried them with a towel. To grind them I used a mortar, as I wanted the experience of it to prepare me mentally. I would not change this step, personally, but I would grind the seeds more to make the extraction more potent. After this I placed the seeds in a small mason jar of cold water and left it next to a cold pack. I also added a scoop of ginger and turmeric tea to reduce nausea. I would use much less tea next time, it did drown out the taste but I don’t like turmeric. I left it like that for an hour, next time I would leave it for much longer to increase potency. Despite using at least 350 seeds according to the seed packs, it wasn’t as potent as I expected. After leaving it, I strained out the seeds and tea leaves, and added at least two parts orange juice to make the taste bearable. I couldn’t taste the seeds, but the turmeric and ginger was overpowering.
I drank the concoction at about 9:05 and I finished drinking it by 9:15. From what I had read it seemed that chugging it would increase nausea. I also took three Tums right after drinking it. I spent an hour or so texting my friend about what I was doing and another 45 minutes or so watching videos. I read a book for a bit, but was falling asleep to it. The first hour I didn’t feel anything that I can’t say wasn’t a placebo effect. After an hour I was starting to doubt myself and my concoction, but just then my teeth started to tingle, an effect I had read about, so I figured it was a good sign. By the second hour I was feeling a bit numb in my toes and extremely lethargic. Throughout this I had no nausea, perhaps a twinge in my gut, but nothing major. I did have to pee extremely frequently for the first little while but I can’t say that’s not the orange juice. In the bathroom mirror I did notice my eyes were extremely dilated. I also craved salt, probably because of the stomach twinge, so I grabbed some plantain chips.
It was as I was watching videos that I noticed something odd. The screen was growing fuzzy from its light. I recognized this as the halo effect. When I confirmed this with a lamp I turned off my device and turned on music. It was now 11:40 and my trip began.
I spent 15 minutes laying in my book nook with music in my ears. I made sure it was comfortable and it really paid off. As I listened to my prepared playlist my music started to sound balanced. I could hear every aspect of the songs and it was fantastic. The relaxation hit me hard and I was content to lay there indefinitely. So I did. I enjoy the songs and began to have some closed eye visuals, nothing really unusual, but I was some spirals and the plane of my imagination began to flip in strange ways during some songs. I also felt an energy settle over me, it changed warmth with each song. I felt grounded and calm. Some songs gave me strange imagery in my mind’s eye, it wasn’t corporal imagery like a dream, but like my imagination was out of my control. Unfortunately I had to go pee again after 15-20 minutes.
When I turned my lamp back on I noticed the only open eye visuals I experienced. The warm shadows of my closet fractalized for a few seconds. It was very brief, and I’ll admit I’m a bit disappointed by the lack of visuals, but it was still really fun to experience. I decided to get in my bed and listen to music and enjoy the visuals. I enjoyed the experience immensely. It was extremely calming but not a trance-like state. I was present in the moment and for the first time in years I didn’t have to spend mental energy to be present in the moment.

Each song glowed a different color in my mind when it came on, and I imagined strange things and enjoyed the feeling of being lost in the experience. Eventually the relaxation took a hold of me and I slept deeply. I don’t remember any dreams I had, but even the small amount I sleep I got when my alarm blared this morning was refreshing.
Despite the calm flow of the trip and the brief moment of visuals, it wasn’t the epitome of my experience. The epitome was when I woke up this morning and everything felt real again. My dissociation, at least for now, is lifted. I’m not tense anymore and I feel the afterglow like a gift the seeds left me. Also, one strange effect is my sense of smell is better. I couldn’t tell you why, but it is the case. For the first time everything feels real again. I can’t fathom why many drugs like this are illegal, the experience I had was amazing and I’m already looking forward to trying it again with a larger dose.
Morning glory, thank you.
