Sacred Damiana Ceremony in the Iguanas Canyon

I had been to a nearby canyon here in Colombia where I had found a plant with a pungent smell, and it caught my attention. I later learned it was damiana, a psychoactive plant related to passiflora. So one day I returned to that place with a friend. I told him that damiana grew there and that there was also a river, and we wanted to go there to perform a ceremony.

A few moments beforehand, I had brought some wine with me to drink on the way. After arriving at the place, we gathered fresh damiana leaves. Then we walked to the river. Upon arrival, we took out the damianas and each of us began to eat a handful of fresh damiana leaves. Which, to my surprise, were very active fresh and had a flavor similar to a seasoning for meats or fine herbs. As I swallowed the liquid, the juice tasted acidic, and after about 5 minutes, I began to feel the effects.

They were similar to cannabis, providing relaxation, tranquility, and a buzz. Strong on the body and also a feeling of validity. The 40 degrees Celsius were barely perceptible and I had a feeling of freshness throughout my body. After chewing the damiana puffs, I began to notice effects on my visual field, as things seemed to have a warm haze and a clear vibration when looking at them.

After more than an hour, the effects remained at bay; they didn't change much. Then they began to slowly subside until they disappeared.
