T=0. 100 mg 4-FMA
T=various. Nitrous oxide 10x cartridges, and 10x hits of amyl nitrite/poppers

Summary recommendation: as a powerful and clean stimulant, 4-FMA has strong additive tendencies, should be used infrequently (1x/year), and should be dosed no higher than 80 mg with no redose used.

This report is mainly about a single experience, informed by one prior experience. We are both experienced psychonauts, having used most major classes of compounds repeatedly. We typically start sessions in the morning to minimize hangovers, as this usually avoids sleep deprivation.

T=0. We both consumed 100 mg of 4-FMA, a white semi-crystalline powder obtained in the clear as a grey market research chemical before the July 2025 Netherlands ban. It was weighed with a +/- 1 mg scale and orally consumed in a gel cap.

T=30 minutes. First alert signs of come up. Music appreciation, stimulation, sharpened eyesight, mood enhancement.

T=60 minutes. Reaching peak. 4-FMA is a classic strong amphetamine. I found that I could get obsessively focused on unimportant tasks, along with mental scatterbrain. Together, this was one of the more unpleasant parts of the experience, because I KNEW I wanted to move away from ‘trying to find that charger cord’ to something fun, but only my partner’s intervention was able to break the headspace. We had previously used 4-FMA at an 80 mg dosage, and this effect was not nearly as pronounced: so keep your dosage lower on this compound. Urge to redose was incredibly strong just before and into the peak, and we had to continuously remind each other not to do so (successfully!).

T= 60 minutes. In slight contrast, my partner (F52) felt totally anxiety free, truly great. She was very high energy and mood. For both of us, libido was very amplified. However, 4-FMA does prevent male physical arousal. We kissed and cuddled a lot, which was lovely and absorbing. Adding nitrous and amyl nitrite made for wildly intense spikes of intimacy. This is a very mouth-drying compound, and we were drinking a lot of water.

T=2-4 hours. The plateau was a bit up and down. We went through windows of total physical euphoria and contrasting windows of clarity, where it felt like we were starting downhill. These clarity valleys gradually increased in frequency, which was how the comedown occurred. By adding nitrous or poppers, we could re-access the peak fairly easily.

T= 5 hours. At the come-down, I had a serious psychedelic window of about an hour, when 4-FMA was combined with poppers. As closed-eye visuals, I was seeing symmetric geometric patterns that captured specific emotional states, and danced around, and went into and out of existence. My partner did not have any such experience. This visionary part was decidedly different than straight adderall.

T=5 hours. We also found that the mellower part of the come-down made for some exceptionally pleasureable silent cuddling, where just being close to each other without talking was blissful. In such a period with most empathogens (MDMA, 3-FEA), this kind of cuddling would be coupled with a flood of talking and cooing at each other. This cooing was absent with 4-FMA.

T= 10 hours. At 100 mg, this was a completely exhausting experience, and we collapsed fully asleep by T=10 hours (6 PM!) and slept for at least 12 hours solid. The only other compound we have tested with a similar exhaustion level was high-dose 6-APB. To repeat, we were the walking dead by the end of our come-down. In contrast, 80 mg was no more exhausting than a mid-dose roll of MDMA. Be aware that 4-FMA seems to have a steep response curve.
