BODY WEIGHT: 165 lb
Background & Sourcing:
I received two tablets of 7-Hydroxymitragynine as a free sample from my local kratom supplier. I have been a regular user of kratom for several years but have never developed a dependence due to taking weeks or months off between use, although I do suspect that my tolerance to Kratom is relatively high. I have also tested several opiate and opioid substances in the past including Percocet, Oxycodone, Tramadol, and Heroin. I no longer use any of these substances but I remember the experience of them very clearly. I was interested in testing 7-OH and comparing it to my experience with other opioid substances as I have heard several times that 7-OH is comparable to traditional opiates in effect and significantly stronger than regular powder Kratom.

Experience Report:
Ingested half of a tablet (10mg) orally and began to feel the initial effects within about twenty minutes. The “come up” began with a feeling of warmth and a sensation of heaviness in my body which started in my legs and quickly spread to the rest of my limbs, this was a familiar feeling for high doses of Kratom and did not feel distinctly different from regular powdered Kratom. My vision began to blur slightly when looking at text or focusing on something close to my eyes. I did not experience any nausea which aligns with my previous experiences with Kratom.

The mental effects began to manifest approximately 35 minutes after ingestion, a general feeling of calmness and serenity set in. My thoughts began to slow significantly and everything seemed somewhat dull and uninteresting. I will note that the 7-OH seemed to have a predominantly sedating effect in comparison to powdered Kratom, which often has a mixture of both stimulating and sedating effects.
I will note that the 7-OH seemed to have a predominantly sedating effect in comparison to powdered Kratom, which often has a mixture of both stimulating and sedating effects.
I began listening to music, something I like to experiment with on different substances as there is usually a distinct feeling to music for every substance, however the 7-OH did not seem to make the music more or less enjoyable. I would describe the general mental feeling as apathetic.

After about 1 hour, I split the remaining half of the tablet into two quarters and put one quarter tablet (5mg) under my tongue, attempting to ingest some of the tablet sublingually for a few minutes before giving up and swallowing it due to the horrible chemical flavoring. I began surfing the web and reading some other trip reports for the substance. The general feeling of apathy remained but the re-dosage did increase the physical feeling of sedation. I experienced an ebb and flow of the body high in five minute intervals, five minutes of a heavier feeling of warmth and sedation, then five minutes of the same effects to a lesser degree. This interval effect lasted for around 15 minutes until the feeling settled into a consistent full body sensation. Around this time my body and face began to feel itchy, almost to an uncomfortable degree.

I began having a compulsion to re-dose around 1.5 hours after my initial dose, I could tell that my inhibitions were lowered and the apathetic feeling made it seem more alluring to take more. I was not experiencing several of the effects that others had reported for the substance and wondered if my tolerance to Kratom was simply too high to get the desired effect from the dosage I had taken.

I took another quarter tablet (5mg), bringing my total dosage up to 20mg. The previously stated effects continued to manifest incrementally, yet I still did not feel any distinct euphoric sensation or “nodding off” as I had seen reported by others and had experienced with traditional opiates. I was growing more and more disappointed with the experience.

I hit what was likely the peak around 20 minutes after taking the second re-dose. A feeling of heaviness in my head became apparent, different to the previous body high, this head feeling was more distinctly pleasant, not euphoric per say, but enjoyable. I noticed at this point that the primary difference in effect between 7-OH and powder Kratom was the lack of mental focus. With powder Kratom there would be a sedating effect with high doses, but I would still be able to focus and be productive at whatever activity I was doing. With the 7-OH, it was as if I became unable to focus or even care about anything I was doing, which was not enjoyable to me. This would be fine if the effects were actually similar to traditional opiates, but due to the lack of euphoria it was quite frustrating and quickly became boring. I sat around for a while just trying to enjoy the effects while they lasted.

Approximately 4.5 hours after initial ingestion the effects began to gradually subside and I was left with a dull feeling of contentedness. The after effects were moderate, a lingering apathy, loss of appetite, and a lasting brain fog which left me lethargic for the rest of the day. I slept well that night and did not have any dreams, which aligns with my previous use of Kratom. I woke up the following day feeling slightly more tired than usual after 9 hours of sleep, other than this there were no lasting effects the following day.

Summary & Conclusion:
Overall I was disappointed with the experience. From the things I had heard about 7-OH I had expected a much greater physical sensation, which I did not experience. The lack of euphoria was the most disappointing part. I really wanted to experience nodding off again as I had enjoyed that effect when taking opiates in the past, but alas, it didn’t happen.

The brain fog and apathetic feelings were a sticking point for me, as they were neither enjoyable or unenjoyable, they just came and went without much in the way of a memorable experience. As a recreational drug, I can’t say I would recommend 7-OH to anyone familiar with Kratom or anyone with a tolerance to Kratom. It is possible that higher doses could have produced the effect I was looking for, but I wouldn’t want to risk boosting my tolerance too much as I have heard that tolerance to 7-OH builds freakishly fast. As a pain medication or a sleep aid, this might be a handy substance, but it looks like it's going to be banned in the US soon so it's not exactly a practical solution to those problems.

I would be willing to try 7-OH again in the future, maybe taking a higher dosage or mixing it with powdered Kratom to mitigate some of the less desirable effects, but I likely won’t do that for a while if ever. I’ll stick to regular Kratom for the time being.
