I didn't have any experience prior to this with drying or curing tobacco, so the leaves stayed relatively green after the drying process. Also, I don't typically inhale as I prefer the traditional ways of pipe smoking.

I had 3 leaves that I had dried and put into my pipe. Upon lighting, I got a much more pleasant taste than I expected. I expected a harsher taste because typical commercial tobacco has a stingy type of flavor and the leaves I had were green which I heard made tobacco smoke much harsher. When comparing to standard commercial tobacco, it felt almost smooth. I also thought it would be harsher as a wild species of tobacco. But it wasn't just the flavor that was clean, I felt clean. I can understand now why the natives would use tobacco for cleansing.

The hit wasn't a rush, it was a calmer feeling with a more gradual transition, but it lasted longer. The feeling isn't so immediate and temporary like what is seen with the average cigarette. With commercial tobacco, when I finish my smoke, I immediately crave another because of how fast it leaves, but this feeling lasted. It still felt like tobacco and it still felt like nicotine, but it felt real. I always knew the commercial stuff was altered, but after this experience, I now truly understand how far the industrialized stuff is from tobacco. It didn't feel addictive. It simply felt great to just enjoy the company of the plant's spirit and experience its wisdom. In short, it's a pleasant smoke that reveals the true tobacco.
