3 bowls smoked Salvia divinorum (leaves)
BODY WEIGHT: 160 lb
Lady Pastora, The Shepherdess, Diviner’s Mint/Sage, Yerba Maria, Plant Teacher, or just plain Salvia. It’s the sacred plant of the Mazatec Indians native to the Oaxaca region of Mexico. Once fully researched concerning the topic I vowed to someday order some Salvia off the net and test the plants psychoactive powers for myself. In college with access to a credit card, I became tempted and made the decision to purchase a half ounce of premium Salvia leaves. This next writing is concerning my first experience with the leaf.

Intensity: Strong but not full blown
Level 2 “A” Altered Perception
10:32am-11:00am

Eagerly awaiting the packages arrival, I checked the college mail center daily. When the bag of Salvia finally arrived I was so excited that I practically ran back to my dorm room. I set up the lighting and locked the door for my first encounter with Lady Salvia. I got comfortable on my bed and proceeded to smoke a bowl of the crushed-up dried leaf. I was only planning to smoke one bowl but after not receiving what I thought to be sufficient effects, I proceeded to smoke two more bowls in the following 15 minute span.

What followed was very unique when compared to any other drug I had previously experimented with. There seemed to be a pressure in my head almost instantly upon smoking. This pressure presented itself as a sort of throbbing sensation, but not necessarily unpleasant, just very unique. A feeling came over me as I got off the bed and tried to stand. I noticed feelings of confusion in terms of motor skills and body load. Time seemed to move faster, continuing on without me as if I was somehow disconnected from it‘s grasp.

I felt like I was tripping. Life in general felt dreamy and far off. The feeling was definitely that of tripping, though it was only of a low intensity.

Some mellow rap was playing softly on my stereo and I felt I could easily flow with the music. I laid back on my bed and starred at the ceiling tiles to check for any visual activity. I had read that Salvinorin A was the most potent naturally occurring hallucinogen isolated thus far, so I figured there would be some visual distortion even from the leaf in its natural state. I noticed some very minor visual activity which presented itself as holes in the ceiling tile swirling a bit. I ventured out of the room while still under the influence and went over to my neighbors dorm. I talked to him briefly and felt fairly happy and sociable.

Returning back to my room, I was coming down off the 3rd bowl of Salvia I had smoked 10-12 minutes previous. At this point I was returning to baseline rapidly. The peak of the experience only seemed to last 4-6 minutes with the after effects lasting no more than 30 minutes. Following this first session, I smoked the leaf several more times by itself and in combination with cannabis. The visual effects from the leaf were apparent but could not possibly satisfy my quest for a “real” Salvia experience. I wanted one of the full blown out-of-body experiences that I had so enthusiastically read of.
