This is not about me, but about a friend of mine, who I am going to call Max. I was over at his house and we were watching an episode of Ab Fab. I first noticed that he was acting strange when he began fast forwarding and rewinding the tape over parts we had already seen for no apparent reason. (This was about 20 minutes after he had-- unbeknownst to me-- gone into the kitchen and taken the Ambien.) He was also mumbling things that didn't make any sense. He was also eperiencing double vision.

Max was mumbling and his eyelids were half closed. He said, rather drunkenly, 'You know what? I am going to have thirty babies and give them all to the government.' That was funny. I gave him a weird look and he said. 'Oh, am I making my kissy faces?' And he puckered his lips at me like he was going to kiss me, which was really weird because he is gay and I am a girl.

He got up and tried to walk, but he fell over. I helped him up, but he fell again. That was when I decided that I was going to put Max to bed and leave. I started to lead him to the stairs to his bedroom but he didn't want to go. He fell down again, half landing on the wet bar. I said 'Come on, Max, you need to go to bed,' to which he replied, 'I'm just going to sit here, and I will seriously consider your bedness.' I helped him up and he started to walk into the kitchen, and I was afraid that he would fall to his death down the stairs that lead to the back door so I grabbed him and took him to the stairs to his room. Needless to say, he had some trouble getting up them; at any point when I was not holding on to him he would fall forward, not even trying to catch himself on the way down.

Eventually I got him into his bed and then I showed myself out. He called me about ten minutes later while I was driving home, asking me where I was, apparently unaware of what happened. I told him to go to bed and that I would talk to him in the morning.

He remembered nothing the next day. But he told me that in the night he had dismantled his computer and brought it into his room, but that he didn't actually remeber doing that. He told me that on a separate occasion after he had taken one 10mg tablet and was on his computer, he looked down at the keyboard and the keys were floating in a pool of gravy.

Fortunately, I was there to babysit him and everything turned out okay. He didn't hurt himself except for a couple of bruises from falling. If I were using this drug for reacreational purposes I would BE CAREFUL, and have a sober sitter to make sure that I don't fall and crack your skull open. If I were using the drug for medical reasons: I would not take more than the doctor-specified dose, and I would BE IN BED when I take it.
