All I wanted to do was grin, and I kept thinking, whoa, it's gonna work this time. Slowly, imperceptibly so, my vision became bright and much more colorful. Things looked relatively normal, like about 1 hit of acid, but if I tried to focus on anything it started to glow, with some kind of golden pattern of flowing light. Lying on my sofa I looked at light reflecting off of a wall, and disappearing into the darkness behind a book shelf. It looked like some religious painting of souls being sucked into hell,

I sipped a bottle of wine and smoked some pot, we walked around in my back yard, we went for a drive. The alcohol cut out a lot of the mental effects, making the overall trip sort of spiritually/intellectually devoid, but it was still fun as hell. We watched donnie darko, which was a great idea, all the music/image synching in it was beautiful, and there was a strange layer over everything, making the characters seem unreal, or perhaps dead, which added a new dimension to the film thematically.
About halfway through the film I remembered I had some salvia, so I loaded up a big bowl and smoked it in one hit, holding and counting to thrity, and wow. Never in my life have I tripped that hard. Everything sped up to an unmanageable speed. Somehow, the events of the movie took on cosmic importance to everyone in the room, as if our reality and the film's were meshing, but like I say, this was happening too fast for me to understand.
Then, a friend of mine and his girlfriend started talking, and they became hieroglyphs, one dimensional, but growing and expanding, their communication represented by an angular, white aztec line that connected their mouths and changed shaped and directions, and I remember thinking that I was going crazy and that that was what they were talking about. My mind was so flooded that this was only one of the thoughts I was having on one of many levels, because there was also this concern for the film, I was empathizing with the characters far more than anyone could have intended for me to, and all along I was sitting on the sofa with that uncomfortable tingly feeling of salvia, trying to keep from trembling and shaking like a brujo in a nutmeg trance, then, as abruptly as it came, it went, and I was normal again. I said 'fuck' or something like that, but made no attempt to explain to my friends, the words simply eluded me.
So all in all I had a great time.
