I tried DXM last night and all I can say is it's a waste of time. But maybe I did something wrong....? I got a bottle of Vicks 44(cough relief formula) and the only active ingredient is DXM. It does have a little alcohol in it however listed under inactive ingredients. I was in a great mindset after reading reviews about DXM and well, there is a serious lack of acid around here. In fact, I haven't been able to get any for well over 4 years.

Well, the whole bottle is 4oz. Slowly, I downed almost the whole thing over the period of an hour around 10pm. I experienced nothing except slight nausea. I waited 2 1/2 hours then went to sleep. I didn't feel drunk, high or anything. Maybe I didn't take enough considering my body weight but you need to be safe about these things!

I'm currently not taking any other medications except Xanax occasionally for anxiety so I'm confused by the other reviews I see online for DXM.
