I always went into the trip, not looking to get high, but to have an experience instead. I was always looking for something greater then myself, more real. What it was I'm not sure, still not sure if I ever found it or not.
Most of the trips started around 8-9pm. There was always the core group of 4-5 like minded individuals not just best friends but brothers. We were all extremely close, and still are. Dosages ranged from 1 to 2 to 4 hits at a time. We were never looking to lose all touch with reality, but rather to suspend it for a time.
Most of the group were/are diagnosed bi-polar, or just depressive, maybe that was our common thread, or maybe it was the results of our many experiences that brought it to the surface. I'm not sure.
I'll try and explain the first trip in detail:
My first trip ever was my junior year of high school, with 2 hits of Purple Pyramid LSD. We tripped in the back of a pet store. There were 5 of us. 3 males, 2 females. Only one of us had ever tripped before and she had only done it once.
We ate the LSD around 10pm after a very hectic day. Everyone was impatient. After about 1/2 hour we still werent feeling anything, so the women decided they were gonna go drive to someones house and pick up some pot. That left just the 3 of us males together.
They had been gone about 20 minutes when we all just started smiling. We all had been pretty sedated, just sitting on the couches trying to pass the time waiting for it to kick in. I'd say another 10 minutes or so passed, and then we were all giggling and laughing. There was a picture of a rabbit on the wall that I happened to glance at, and I saw the grass surrounding it move and the rabbit twitched its nose. It startled me greatly and I got excited and told my friends to watch it.
Soon they were seeing similar things in the picture. We started getting really talkative, laughing alot about how the walls and doors were begining to pulsate. I dont remember how long they women were gone, but they got back and were laughing because while they were driving up to the house, the LSD kicked in and they were having trouble driving because the lines on the road were waving and wouldnt keep straight for them.
We all went into a room with one lamp, sat on a bed and smoked several bong loads of pot, probably around a 1/16th of an ounce. As soon as we finished, the trip was full force.
We all had glowsticks tied to about 2 feet of yarn that we would twirl, causing incredible tracers, and forming a solid circle of light that you could seemingly dip your hand into if you were quick enough.
It wasnt long before one of my male friends started having trouble voicing his thoughts and started to get extremely frustrated. He started worrying about not coming down. His mood became very dark, and he looked lost, extremely disoriented. He picked up his dog and started carrying it everywhere with him.
We talked to him a bit, but none of us could really keep a coherent thought going more then 1 or 2 sentences. We soon gave up trying to help him and just entered our own worlds. I listened to a Nine Inch Nails song, Further down the spiral:the bottom, and there is part where he screams and there is distorted guitar sound that sounds as if it is falling, and all of us started screaming at the same time even though only one of us had heard the song before.
When the scream reached its peak, I began to see everything around me in a beautiful purple tint. I became extremely warm, and it felt as if thousands of small hands were massaging me, relaxing me. The walls were pulsating so much now it looked as if they were burst, spewing some sort of unknown liquid all over me. I ran to the wall and put my body up against it, and held on to the door frame to hold it in. I was later told I started climbing up the doorframe towards the ceiling and that I was laughing somewhat manically.
My body felt like it was riding a wave. Wave after wave of crashing over me. I was falling, only to be lifted again and placed atop the peak of my trip. The music changed serveral times during the course of the trip, but I only remember 2 songs, both of which were Nine Inch Nails. They kept replaying in my head over and over and over. I can still listen to those songs this day and get goosebumps when I do so, as well as a feeling of well being.
I'm not sure how long the peak lasted, but when it lessened and we were finally able to talk to one another again, we started starring into each others eyes and slowly passing a green glowstick between our faces. The change that the faces would take on were amazing, and many times frightening. I once screamed that one of my female friends became a witch. Her nose elongated, the skin taking on a green tinge (obviously because of the glowstick), and a large wart appeared.
I remember jumping back off of the bed in shock, and then we all started laughing. The friend that was having a bad trip had calmed down some with the ending of the peak and was now able to relax and start talking about what he had seen.
Soon we realized that some of what we were saying sounded very poetic, so one of my male friends decided to write some of it down. We never got more then one line at a time written down, and even then it never made much sense. The only one we all remember is the male that had the bad trip wrote, 'We keep thinking...'.
We couldnt hold a single thought for very long.
The all slowly relaxed and soon were just talking about, everything. From school, to relationships, to fears, food, everything. We all seemed to connect in that moment, and forged a bond that exists to this day when we see each other in passing.
