Going Beyond Reality
Salvia divinorum (Leaves and 6X Extract)

DOSE:
20 leaves buccal Salvia divinorum (leaves)
smoked Salvia divinorum (extract - 6x)
BODY WEIGHT: 145 lb
Setting: My bedroom in the dark with quiet ambient music playing in the background.

In preparation (like always) I did a little meditation prior to ingesting any Salvia. This usually helps me to 'let go' and let the experience take over me.

I was taking some Lexapro (about 5mg) but it seems to have no interaction with Salvia.

First off, descriptions are very difficult as this substance seems to take over me. I become things or people and usually this is pretty difficult to put into words.

Starting out, I rolled up a quid (which was about 20 plain Salvia leaves rolled into a ball and placed in the mouth for 10-15 minutes. The effects were mild at best and started out about a half hour after initial ingestion. Let me emphasize that it is important to brush ones teeth and use some mouthwash prior to the ingestion as it usually lets the Salvia absorb better.

Basic effects were a calming feeling, some tiny images with the eyes shut but nothing really major. I've been working with Salvia quite a bit and am working to 'let go' which is pretty hard to do as most of us are pretty comfortable with this reality. I've tried some 6x in the past so found it was probably safe to take some now which might enhance the effects since it would be combined with chewing.

I placed some Salvia into a bowl and took a hit. Immediately (as I was still holding my breath) the effects kicked in. I had my computer set up with a visualization from Winamp (cool patturns that follow the sounds of the music). I felt the intense hotness that can be felt normally go over my body (some minor sweating occurred). Also, I just focused on the patterns as my mind starting to wonder away from me. I began to 'become' the visualization. The patterns stuck to the right of the screen and as this occurred I became 'stuck' on the right the majority of the time. I seemed to just be starring straight at it and didn't even think to close my eyes (which closing eyes is nice to do because you can enter a 'virtual' world of your own mind's creation that way). I kept them open just because most times I would close them. So here I am stuck on the right as my mind continued to drift off. I vaguely remember some points where it seemed it like I blacked out...I don't recall many other thoughts/feelings during this time. This indeed was a stronger dose than I usually try.

Becoming the right side is no easy thing to explain. However, once the visual on my computer moved to the middle this feeling went away. Looking at the visuals on the computer was absolutely fascinating. It was like these images were coming to life and every now and then I would become those images. These effects slowly wore off as I came back into reality. Let me say I could not move during this whole time. I remember I left my foot up (knee in the air) and as I came to I again noticed it. To my surprise I don't even remember it was there. I got at a point to where I forgot there was a computer screen in from of me and what was going on in my surroundings. This is what Salvia does to me (and even more I cannot put into words).

Some side notes: The effects from the smoke seemed to last a little longer due to the chew about a 1/2 hour prior to. Usually, Salvia smoke lasts about 10 mins, it lingered to about 30 mins (10 min peak) with the chewed leaves combined with it. If you are new to this, have a sitter in case. I've experimented with slowly increasing doses and usually I 'make' myself lay down. Any higher doses than what I've tried will definitely require a sitter.

That's about all I have to say. I've had more than just this one experience. I've found Salvia very safe, even when I would get those scary feelings of losing control. Meditation and self-control I guess are very important. I am getting to the point where I can just 'let go' and let myself be taken anywhere. If one can do this, they can experience wonderful effects from Salvia :)
