Alcohol is the most common 'party drug' out there. Even though pot is a constant prescience in the party, alcohol remains to be, due to legality and availability, to be the popular choice of psychoactive involvement. It' usually used as an escape; a chance to let go of inhibitions and allow the will to freely flow. While a nice thought, this drug is rarely ever explored beyond the 'I'm wasted' ideals.

I drink when I am bored and it enhances my reality. My solitary drinking has unveiled to me previously difficult-to-obtain portions of my psyche. During it's intoxication of my blood I find my mind more positive, and more inclined to make people happy. As a songwriter, it helps me to convey my emotions in a way that sobriety does not allow. This, beyond all the negative affects of heart and liver damage, has given me a gift unique to this substance.

Nothing upsets me more then when alcohol is not referred to as a drug. Its legality is arbitrary. Make no mistake people, because alcohol is a very powerful drug. I only hope that by writing this that people will take it more seriously. I hope the next time they drink, that they will reconsider the chemical circulating in their blood; to look for the hidden beauty that resides in those red tides is a necessity. Otherwise, this drug is as ambiguous and trivial as the laws that govern drug use in this country.
