In March of this year, I called up an old good friend trying to find marijuana to ease the side effects of my HIV meds. He was glad to help and as we sat and caught up, doing some whippets, it came out he'd been chipping with the tar, but he said only a little on weekends. I was a little surprised, but I figured he was an adult and was responsible in his use.

The next weekend I called him up just to hang out, and when I showed up he said he had a surprise for me. Some heroin. Now even though I am an addict to many and all intoxicants, I decided to go ahead and indulge. He cooked up a shot, I ran it, and caught a rush. It was very pleasent. So next weekend, I asked him to score me 2 bags, each bag should've given 3 ok hits, 2 good ones, or one knock-out shot. When I picked up several days later, the dope was so-so, I shot up a 50 bag in one evening, what I thought would've lasted 4-6 days.

I never caught a rush, and kept upping the dose to chase it. On my last hit, the last dope I went all out, and in 3 hours woke up sitting on the toilet with my head all the way on the floor, a kidney ache and pissed blood the next morning. I felt cheated. I never really asked again. However, we were still friends, and at the end of April, I called his house only to be told he'd died the day before, of a heroin overdose. It could've been me, I shot a 50 chunk in 2 hours, and was on other drugs as well, and now I'm mad. Both of us should've known better and stuck to pills, weed and whatnot.

I don't judge him, I'm no angel. But I miss him, he was a good man, a good friend and I loved him. Such a beautiful, sweet, intelligent, talented and sexy man has no business dying at age 29. If you do dope, by all means be careful and think it through. Is it worth it?
