Beware Belladonna

One summer in high school some pals and I met a hitchhiker who told us that we could get Asthmadore from any pharmacy and it would result in trips.

So, we go to the local Rexall and sure enough, buy a can of the stuff. It was a grey/green powder. The label instructions were to burn it like incense and breath the smoke for asthma relief.

We took a tablespoon each and mixed it with yogurt drink and downed it.

About an hour later, things started getting pretty dicey. Reality went out. Hallucinations were extremely realistic and hard to differentiate. Sound and vision were completely unreliable.

At one point, I needed to take a leak. As I stood at the toilet, I looked down and saw the water rising over the top and cascading over the sides. Alarmed, I got down to see how to stop it. On closer inspection, the water level was actually lower than normal and the bowl was nearly empty.

Later, sitting in a chair I looked over my shoulder at a curtain and saw a large 4 inch long beetle. It was a strange and ugly insect that I had never seen before. I pointed it out to my friend but it was no longer there.

The hallucinations were compounded by a strong drowsiness. I kept nodding in and out. It was very hard to tell what was really there.

Finally, I woke up and it was the next day. I went looking for my pals. I found one and he was looking for me. He asked 'where did you guys go?'. I asked him when and he said, after we drove down to the piers to get high I turned around and you guys had split. I told him I never left the house.

This stuff is very intense and dangerous. It was not a good high. It would be very easy to do serious damage to yourself with this either by overdosing, nodding out and never waking up or by walking off a cliff.

Obviously, operating any machine, especially a car, would be asking for serious injury or death.

Beware.
