I was given a Zyprexa prescription by a psychiatrist in 2003 after a psychotic break caused by cannabis addiction. (I've had some mind-blowing experiences with cannabis which I should get around to reporting on sometime. One was an out of body experience) the first time I took Zyprexa I felt an uncomfortable restlessness that was paradoxically tied to a tingly sensation throughout my body. The restlessness is somewhat like a medium dose of mushrooms but not as pleasant and without the inclination to laugh at the universe. This was accompanied by heavy sedation. The restlessness and sedation continued as long as I was on the drug.

After taking the drug as prescribed for about two weeks my psychiatrist raised the dose to 25mg. I then began to have a recurring dream in which I was reading a philosophy text which contained all the solutions to life's questions. Each dream was a different passage in the text. It was extremely frustrating to have this recurring dream because I could not ever remember any of the text in the morning and I was sure that if I were able to write any of it down it might help many people including myself.

After a while I stopped seeing my psychiatrist out of frustration (I had questions about the neuro-chemistry and sensations I felt while psychotic/manic that he would not answer.) and I felt at the time that I no longer needed the drug. Unfortunately I promptly picked up my cannabis addiction which after a year of smoking at least twice a day lead to another breakdown.

As soon as zyprexa cleared my from my system I stopped having the recurring dream.
